For The Records has been the independent record label founded by Matt Jasper. The first album released under FTR in 2000 was “Jasper Makes Music” by Matt Jasper. Since then, the label has taken on a number of different iterations, with additional artists and projects including the New Jersey based band, Red Electric, the ambient jazz duo Ambivert, and a number of other releases by Matt Jasper and other artists.
Over the years, FTR label head Matt Jasper has worn multiple hats in and around the music industry. First and foremost, he has been an independent musician for over 25 years; he is also a music business professional, working for the Harry Fox Agency (the leading mechanical rights agency in the US), lead product support at Samson Technologies, a music instrument manufacturer; in college, he was the co-founder of the Rutgers University Musician’s Guild; a college radio DJ at 90.3FM WRLC-WVPH in Piscataway, NJ; he has also run a 14 person cover band while in grad school getting his MBA at the University of Washington.
Additionally, FTR label head Matt Jasper has spent over a decade working with digital transformation clients, handling product management, and digital marketing for eCommerce clients. Music related brands he has worked with include Guitar Center (handling their Amazon business); Musician’s Institute in LA (handling web, social and content strategy); Behringer, Mackie and other music instrument manufacturers (handling project management); and Music Factory Records (overseeing the label, A&R, management, distribution and licensing).
His passion for music is evident, and he is excited to continue to put out music through For The Records.
